Dear Crusaders of Fatima,

It’s hard to believe that the month of May the month of Our Lady is hear already. This marks the beginning of a new season of Candlelight Processions.  We are grateful once again to being hosted by St. Columbkille for our Candlelight Procession as well as The First Saturday devotion in May.

The Rev. Richard Fitzgerald the pastor of St. C’s will be presiding at our First Saturday devotion on May 4th..Father Christopher Bae will officiate at the Candlelight Vigil on the 13th of May. At St. Columbkille as well.

If any of you have been by the shrine lately you will see the construction fences up around the shrine, the sidewalks to the shrine have been removed, plants and shrubs as well as they get ready to install new drainage and stairs around the shrine.  The shrine itself has been completely cleaned out and is getting ready for work to be done.  The Contractor is walking the shrine this week and costing out the work we have requested.  I would like to thank all those who helped us clean and move the items from the shrine.  We have stored all items in a secure place including the statue of Our Lady.  We will keep you inform in the months ahead as progress is made.

This is a reminder that the shrine will be temporary closed for the month of May and June. The Shrine is going to be receiving a badly needed facelift and some new features in the way of new furniture.  We apologize for any inconvenience and wanted to assure you that your petitions and prays are heard during this time and we are holding are services offsite and welcome you all.  During May we will be having the First Saturday and the Candlelight Procession at St. Columbkille’s Parish in Brighton Ctr.

The Crusaders of Fatima have announced that there will be a celebration commemorating the Official Opening of the shrine back in September of 1969, 50 years ago. The celebration will take place sometime this fall; details to follow. Anyone interested in helping out let us know!

The Crusaders of Fatima wish to take this opportunity to thank all of you for all the support you have provided the shrine and for your devotion to Our Lady through the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We are in the process of purchasing new seating for the shrine and hope to have in place when we move back in this July.  There will be many changes taking place up on the hill and we expect it to be a very busy summer and fall.  We will be updating you on all that will transpire as we find out.  If you have any questions please reach out to us, and we will be still receiving your petitions and prays and hope you can make it to our services being held offsite while construction is going on.  We would also like to extend a Happy Mother’s day to all the mothers out there, and entrust them to our Most Blessed Mother in heaven.  Thank You and God bless you!

Prayers Requested for Paul Zukas, Paul died in March at 89 years old. Paul served as president of the Crusaders of Fatima over 20 years ago.  May he rest in peace!
